Refund and Cancellation Policy

Cancel any time

You may cancel whenever you want. There is no cancellation fee and no minimum number of months. Signup is online, so cancellation is online and as easy as signing up. The renewal terms are also in the Terms of Service.

• Online. Open the link in your Stripe receipt or in any billing email. It goes to the Stripe customer portal. Confirm cancellation there. You do not have to call us, talk to a person or a chatbot, or answer questions. Any offer to stay will come with a clear way to finish canceling right away.
• Email, if the link fails. Write to [email protected] from the email on the account. Any subject line works. Tell us the email on the subscription if it is different from the one you are writing from. We process email cancellations promptly. If a renewal charge goes through after we received your clear request to cancel, we refund it (see Billing errors).

We email you a confirmation either way. Keep it. Cancel before the renewal charge on the date shown on your receipt if you do not want to pay for the next month.

Unsubscribing from the newsletter does not cancel the paid subscription. Use one of the two methods above so future charges stop.

What happens after you cancel

Cancellation stops future renewal charges. It does not erase the month you already paid for. You keep receiving packs through the end of that paid period, and you may keep using packs already delivered at your own events, under the license.

Your cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period. After that, you do not receive new packs. We do not refund the unused days of a month you decided to cancel, because you keep those days and their packs. The first-charge and renewal windows below, and the other cases on this page, are the exceptions.

Canceling does not by itself delete personal information. The Privacy Policy explains what we keep and how to ask for deletion. Canceling also does not, by itself, remove you from the newsletter if you joined that list separately. You can unsubscribe with the link in a newsletter message.

First charge

If you email us within 14 days after your first subscription charge, and no paid pack has been delivered to you (or downloaded) yet, we refund the full first charge, including any sales tax we collected on it. You do not have to give a reason. We also cancel the subscription so it does not renew.

Once a paid pack from that first period has been delivered, the first charge is not refundable, except under Other refunds or Billing errors. You can still cancel, and the cancellation takes effect at the end of that period.

The free sample is not a paid pack. Downloading it does not affect this refund.

This window is a refund of a charge you already agreed to see at checkout. The free sample never converts into a paid plan on its own.

Later renewal charges

A later monthly charge is the fee for that new period. We do not refund it because you used fewer packs than you expected, with one exception.

If you cancel within 7 days after a renewal charge, and no pack from that new period has been delivered to you yet, we refund that renewal charge, including tax we collected on it. Once a pack from the new period has been delivered, the renewal charge is not refundable, except under Other refunds or Billing errors. Your cancellation then takes effect at the end of that period.

If a renewal charge happens after we received a clear cancellation (online, or by email) and the charge should not have gone through, that is a billing error. We refund it even if a pack arrived, and the license for packs delivered only because of that mistaken charge ends.

Digital goods

The packs are digital goods. We deliver them by email, and you can download them as soon as they arrive. We do not ship a physical product, and there is nothing to mail back.

Because delivery is immediate, packs already delivered are not refundable. We do not prorate the month when you cancel mid-cycle.

Checkout will state this before you pay: the plan renews monthly until you cancel, cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period, and delivered packs are not refundable. The exceptions are the first-charge and renewal windows (only before any pack from that period is delivered), billing errors, and the other refunds below.

Other refunds

We also refund or credit in these cases:

• A pack is missing or late. If we skip a scheduled week, or a pack does not arrive on its scheduled day, tell us. At your choice, we send a replacement pack or refund that pack's share of the charge. A pack's share is the charge for that billing period divided by the number of weekly packs scheduled in it (four or five).
• A pack is defective. If a file is corrupt or a pack is missing rounds, tell us. At your choice, we send a corrected or replacement pack or refund that pack's share of the charge.
• We shut the service down. If we stop offering Round Five Trivia and you are not in breach of the terms, we refund the unused days of the current prepaid month.
• The price was wrong. If we charged more than the price disclosed at checkout, or more than a later price we gave you proper notice of, we refund the difference. If you would rather cancel, email us and we will refund the full mistaken charge and cancel.

How to ask for a refund

Email [email protected] from the email on the account. Include:

• the approximate date and amount of the charge;
• whether the request is the first-charge refund, a renewal you meant to cancel, a missing, late or defective pack, or a billing error; and
• whether you also want the subscription canceled. If you want it canceled, say so, and we will treat the email as a cancellation too.

Any subject line works. We aim to reply within 3 business days. Approved refunds go back through Stripe to the original payment method. We do not require you to return a physical item. If the card refund cannot be completed, we will ask you how else to return the money.

If we refund a charge that should not have happened and packs were delivered only because of it, delete those packs and stop using them.

Billing errors

Email us and we will correct a billing error. Examples:

• a duplicate charge for the same period;
• a charge after a cancellation that had already been completed;
• a charge after we received a clear cancellation email, if we were slow to process it;
• an amount different from the price disclosed at checkout or in a price-change email; or
• two successful charges where a retry and an original payment both went through.

We refund the mistaken amount, including tax we collected on that amount. If the error means a whole period should not have been charged, we refund that whole charge. Please also cancel online if you do not want the plan to continue, so a later month does not bill while we are fixing the earlier one.

Chargebacks

If a charge looks wrong, email us first. Billing errors and the refunds on this page are usually resolved faster by email than by a card dispute, and we would rather put the money back ourselves.

A chargeback, dispute, or payment reversal does not cancel the subscription. Cancel online or by email so later months do not charge. If you file a dispute, we may pause new pack deliveries while it is open. We do not charge a renewal while we have paused deliveries.

We respond to the card network with the records of what checkout disclosed, your agreement to the monthly charge, and the packs we delivered. If the network reverses the charge, the related period is canceled, and the license for packs delivered for that reversed charge ends. Please delete those files.

We do not send a subscription dispute to a collections agency or report it to a credit bureau. If you meant to keep the subscription, email us and we will sort out which months are paid.

When the money comes back

Once we approve a refund, we submit it promptly. Stripe returns it to the original payment method. Banks and card issuers commonly take another 5 to 10 business days to show the credit, and some take longer. A refund includes any sales tax we collected on the refunded amount. We do not control the issuer's posting time. Your confirmation email is the record that we sent the refund.
